Smoothies

Smoothies have become very popular lately. One can have them as are freshing afternoon snack or post-work-out. Just the name alone sounds so good! Sssssssmoothie. I loooooove Smoothies because they are so very versatile! Depending on the situation and my needs of the day, I can add many different nutrients that will fill me up without making me feel heavy or bloated, energize me and, most important, give me enjoyment from the taste, the smell, the color. I will enjoy the whole process of drinking it! Just as I'm writing about it I'm already dreaming of the smoothie I'm planning to have after my workout later. Smoothies are packed with lots of nutrients, and are easy to consume even "on the go". When I feel I need an extra dose of vitamins and minerals, I add peanuts, roasted almonds, flax seed, and/or pumpkin seeds. Sometimes I even add an avocado, for a real treat. The days I work my muscles hard, I also add extra protein powder. * Smoothies can be sweetened by adding dried pitted dates, apricots or figs, but NO sugar, of course! To make smoothies you absolutely need a good blender.
